You don’t only want great hair but also amazing skin. Get a confidence boost by doing everything you can to help your skin naturally stay looking younger for longer.
There are a number of things we can do to take care of our body and, in turn, our skin. Our lifestyle plays a big part, as do the products we use on it. Below are a list of things to do to ensure your skin always looks and feels amazing.
1. Water intake
The recommended level is at least 2.5 litres per day. This is the equivalent of 5 pints. Remember, half of your body is made up of water and it need replenishing. It hydrates and revitalises the skin and improves elasticity. It also makes you feel and look far more healthy.
2. Daily diet
A balanced diet that includes lots of fruit and vegetables is important for great looking skin. You’ll gain natural vitamins and antioxidants such as Vitamin C, polyphenols and flavonoids. This will help wounds and marks heal faster and reduce the signs of ageing. Fish provides fatty acids that help retain moisture in the skin. Whereas eating too much processed food, or refined carbohydrates can have the opposite effect
3. Sleep
Always try to get a minimum of 7 hours sleep every night. A lack of it will impact your appearance. You’ll get not only get dark circles and bags under your eyes but also drier skin. Keep your mobile away from bed as the blue light tricks your brain into thinking its daytime. Create a regular routine that can help you wind down and naturally feel tired.
4. Exercise
Getting fit is hard work but extremely rewarding. Producing sweat helps to remove toxins from the body and open up the pores. Studies also state that regular exercise helps keep you looking younger. You are more likely to age faster without a regular workout routine.
5. Drinking and smoking
It should go without saying these are harmful to the skin. Even in small amounts. If you can stop completely you’ll reap the rewards. Anyone who excessively drinks or smokes will experience premature skin damage. Moderate users may still have issues, but have more chance to manage them successfully.
6. Cleansing
Your face picks up a lot of unnoticed dirt and pollutants throughout the day as it is constantly exposed to the elements around us. This is why you should wash it at least twice a day with a good cleanser. It should be able to keep your skin moist while removing unwanted toxins.
7. Treatment
A daily moisturiser or cream will help keep the skin from becoming too dry. This plays a big role in fighting off the signs of ageing. Anti-ageing products need time to work so give them space to show results. From the many products available those promoting hydration are usually the best.
8. Protection
UV light can affect our skin on any day as it is always present. However, we should be more careful in the summer at its most intense. Some moisturisers have sunscreens included. Alternatively, in the heat use one with a SPF of at least 15. It will protect the skin and stop it from becoming dehydrated and saggy.
