PRE-TREATMENT

In the week before your 1st session, you should

• Moisturise your scalp to ensure it is in the best condition.

• Remove the hair system to get fresh air to the scalp.

On the day of your treatment

• Wash hair to remove any hair fibres, hair thickening spray, gels, and moisturiser.

• Shave your head with clippers, shaver or a razor, if you prefer we can shave it for you at the clinic.

AFTERCARE

Now you have received your new treatment, it is up to you to care for it. The aftercare following treatment is important to promote good healing and prevent the risk of infection.

As well as the individual advice that your practitioner will have given you, such as how frequently to cut your hair, there are a few pieces of advice you should follow immediately after your treatment:

What should I do after my treatment?

• You should avoid showering your head for the first 4 days after your treatment.

• You should avoid shaving your head for the first 4 days after your treatment.

• You should avoid swimming/saunas and steam rooms for 28 days after your final treatment.

• You should keep out of the sun for 21 days after treatment and after that use an SPF factor of 30-50.

• You should avoid heavy exercise for 4 days after treatment.

• You should apply a small amount of A&D ointment provided for the first 4 days after treatment.

• You should moisturise regularly 4 days after treatment.

Getting a treatment involves breaking the skin surface so there is always a potential risk for infection to occur afterwards. Your treatment should be treated as a wound initially and it is essential that this advice is followed so that the infection risk can be minimised.

If appropriate aftercare is not followed infection may occur. For the first few days or so it is normal for the area to be red and tender. Monitor your treatment regularly (daily) so you can see if any changes have occurred.

The signs of infection are:

• Swelling and redness that increases around the wound.

• A severe burning and throbbing sensation around the site.

• Increased tenderness and increasingly painful to touch.

• An unusual discharge (yellow or green) with an offensive smell.

Speak to your practitioner or seek medical attention immediately if you suffer from any of the above or have any concerns regarding infection in your tattoo or if there are any signs of an allergic reaction to any of the products used.

• Avoid touching the new treatment site unnecessarily so that exposure to germs is reduced. For the same reason, do not pick at or scratch a healing treatment

• Always wash & dry your hands before and after handling a new tattoo site.

•Always keep a new treatment covered and protected if working in a dirty/dusty/oily environment.
